Bedroom Refresh: Where We Started
As you can see where we started on this bedroom refresh below besides the mess our room was lacking some thought and attention. We switched rooms with our daughters so they could have the bigger room, and we never really put much thought and attention into our new room until now. The real before was our bed on box springs for many years, but I didn’t get a picture of that. The room we used to be in had a sloped ceiling so we couldn’t put a bed frame like this in there.
Feels like we are really adults now with an actual bed frame. I really like this one too because there’s lots of open storage space underneath. With it being a smaller room it’s nice to have a place to put our off season clothes and things. The kids love to play under there too.

Focal Point: Bed and Bedding

I really wanted to focus on the focal point of our room, the bed. Like most bedrooms I think this is a natural focal point. I ordered this king sized bed frame off of Wayfair. It was only $200 and some change and I have been impressed with the quality. It goes well in our old farmhouse.
I wanted to lean more into the boho style in here. Most of our rooms lean more classic farmhouse, but I thought I could have more fun in here. I’ve had these wood wall hangings for so long.I finally hung those up in here, and then spent more time than I’d like to admit looking at bedding.
I was trying to find bedding that would go with the curtains for now. Although I do want to change those out later. There was nothing really wrong with the comforter, it was just something my husband grabbed in a pinch when we upgraded to a king mattress and we didn’t want to wait for bedding to come in. So it wasn’t something I really loved.
I did really want something thinner also. The king comforter was impossible to wash in our washing machine. So I figured I could layer the bedding so that we would be warm enough, and also be able to wash our bedding. With dogs and kids it’s been a real problem to not be able to wash our comforter easily.
I ended up going with this cotton coverlet from hearth and hand and this floral blanket from natural life. I really like how they ended up looking together. Not too matchy matchy.
Tip For Bed In Front of Window
Once we put our bed in front of the window here I felt like it made the window look so small or the bed look so big. It is a big bed in this space, but it’s really nice having a bigger bed with the littles and such so we are making it work. Anyways I’ve been toying with the idea of putting a bigger curtain rod up and having the curtains go the full width of the bed.
I think it looks so much better now. So I think this might be the way to go if you have your bed in front of a small window. Maybe try out a little bedroom refresh of your own.

I’m so happy with this little bedroom refresh. We’ve kind of put our bedroom on the back burner up until now so it was nice to give it some attention. The room feels more balanced and thought out. I’ve been enjoying our little oasis. I hope this was helpful for you, and maybe inspired you to do a little room refresh of your own.
